PANINI AND MILO MANARA SIGN AN AGREEMENT FOR EXCLUSIVE REPRESENTATION WHICH INCLUDES THE LICENSING OF ALL WORKS AND MERCHANDISING PRODUCTS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
Modena - 23 October 2007 – The Panini Group and Milo Manara are delighted to announce the signing of a multi-year agreement which, with immediate effect, makes Panini the administrator and exclusive manager at international level of the licensing of all works and trade marks of Milo Manara for all editorial, marketing and promotional sectors.
Illustrator, designer and writer of international acclaim, Milo Manara needs no introduction. A point of reference for Italian visual culture throughout the world, few others have succeeded in interpreting the beauty and sensuality of the female body with such poetry and refined realism. Over the course of his long career, Manara has worked with some of the greatest artists of our time, including Hugo Pratt, Federico Fellini, Pedro Almodóvar, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Luc Besson and Vincenzo Cerami, and continues his artistic path through a wide variety of collaborations and creating stories for the most important Italian, French and American publishers, establishing himself as an incontrovertible Master of illustrated literature.
Under this agreement, which overrules and annuls all previous management of the rights of Manara’s works, Panini will represent the Master in all countries throughout the world, with the sole exception of publications for trade bookshops in Italian, and will handle the sale of the rights of his works both past present and future, and the sale of his trade marks for the creation of editorial, merchandising, promotional and multimedia products.
As one of the most important publisher of comics in Europe and Latin America, Panini enthusiastically accepts the great challenge of representing one of the most important comic book artists in the world and developing the already consolidated success of this extraordinary artist in countries where he is still unknown.
Marco M. Lupoi, Licensing Director of Panini’s Publishing Division, declared: “It is an incredible honour to represent the genius and the art of Manara at an international level, an artist who has made comic book history and still has so much to tell and to enchant us with. With this agreement, the licensing and editorial activities of Panini Comics have brought a true world champion on to their team”.
Milo Manara commented: “Finally I have become a Panini sticker. My lifetime dream has come true - I have found a Home. The perfect home, with that enchanted wonder of being able to do as an adult what we dreamed of as children: create comics. But have we really grown up?”
